************************* 8:55 a.m. update
GARDEN RIVER FIRST NATION, ON – Sault Ste. Marie OPP is currently investigating a single vehicle motor vehicle collision that occurred at 12:30 a.m. this morning on Highway 17 East in the westbound lane between Belleau Lake Road and Trunk Road.
A 1996 Chevrolet Tahoe left the roadway and rolled over into the ditch.
The vehicle was demolished.
A 60-year-old male driver and lone occupant from Michigan was transported to Sault Area Hospital by ambulance with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
The highway was closed and re-opened at 5:10 a.m. this morning.
The investigation is continuing.

Ontario Provincial Police advise that Highway 17 has re-opened.

Sault Ste. Marie Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police advise of the following road advisory:
Location: Hwy 17, east of Trunk Road, westbound lanes
Brief description of event: Single vehicle collision
Detour (if available): Belleau Road
Estimated duration of road advisory: couple of hours
The OPP will distribute details and updates of the road advisory as information becomes available.
