The former Mount St. Joseph College site was officially renamed as the Mount St. Joseph Centre last night.

The Huron-Superior Catholic District School Board passed a motion to rename the former girl's high school.

Mount St. Joseph College was closed in June 2006 due to declining enrollment.

Over the past summer, renovations to the centre were undertaken so the board could consolidate its offices at that site.

Some renovations are still continuing, Director of Education John Stadnyk said.

"Once these are all complete and everyone is moved in, we would like to have an official ribbon-cutting ceremony of some sort to dedicate the centre," Stadnyk said. "We would like to invite alumni, the Sisters of St. Joseph and others who have been instrumental in Catholic education to the event."
