SooToday.com has received the following announcement from Beggs Funeral Home in Thessalon regarding the passing of Oliver Leonard Grexton, who served in the United Kingdom and Continental Europe during the Second World War.

Oliver Grexton in his 86th year, husband of the late Pauline Grexton.
Loving father of Wayne (Dale) of Bruce Mines, Jim (Judy) of Thessalon, Steve (Linda) and Randy both of Sault Ste. Marie, Ron (Marlene) of Capreol, Shiela Guindon (Roger) of Dever Colorado, Sharon Whitfield (Bruce) and Terry (Tammy) both of Thessalon.
Special grandfather to 15 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
Oliver is survived by two sisters Bernie Clark (Norman) of Sault Ste. Marie and Betty Hinsberger (Bill) of Shelbourne.
Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Oliver served in the Canadian Army from September 1942 to the end of the Second World War.
He served in the United Kingdom and Continental Europe.
Upon returning to Canada he moved back to the Algoma region where he married Pauline Loughleen in 1946.
They raised eight children.
After retiring from Domtar in 1988 Oliver and Pauline kept busy enjoying their family at their home west of Thessalon.
Oliver will be greatly missed by his many friends and family.
Resting at the Beggs Funeral Home, Thessalon where friends may call Monday February 15 from 11 a.m. until time of service at 1 o’clock.
Spring interment in The Sands Cemetery.
Donations to the Canadian Cancer Society gratefully accepted.
