Striking Soo members of the Ontario Public Service Employees Union (OPSEU) will be visited tomorrow by Ontario Federation of Labour president Wayne Samuelson.

Samuelson (shown) announced today that he'll be at the Bay Street entrance of the Roberta Bondar Building at 9:30 Wednesday.

"This is an important struggle faced not only by these workers, but a critical one also for every citizen who cares about this province," Samuelson said.

'Inspection Day'

OPSEU announced late Tuesday that it will hold an "Inspection Day" at workplaces across the province on Wednesday.

The union says that its essential services agreements guarantee its representatives access to any worksite where striking employees would ordinarily perform work.

"We will be inspecting workplaces everywhere, but we are especially concerned about the health and safety of workplaces where essential and emergency workers are supposed to be working," said OPSEU president Leah Casselman. Howard Hampton

Also Wednesday, Ontario NDP Leader Howard Hampton's Public Power bus rolls into the Soo.

Hampton will meet local reporters at the fishing pier on the boardwalk neat Station Mall at 4 p.m., and gather afterward with local activists opposed to privatization of Ontario's electrical system.
