Starting next Tuesday, striking members of the Ontario Public Service Employees Union will get picket-line support from other unions, Ontario Federation of Labour president Wayne Samuelson said this morning in the Sault.
Samuelson met with a large crowd of OPSEU members in front of the Roberta Bondar building on Bay Street.
"We are going to increase the presence of the other labour unions across the province," the OFL leader told SooToday.com.
Samuelson is currently touring the province to raise awareness and support for the OPSEU workers.
Soo strikers bussed to Blind River
Yesterday, he was in Sudbury. Today, his itinerary includes Blind River. A busload of striking OPSEU members from the Sault followed Samuelson there this morning.
OPSEU has been on strike since March 13. The union has 45,000 members across the province, including about 800 in Sault Ste. Marie.
"The workers on the picket line will get stronger before they get weaker," Samuelson told reporters this morning.
