The Sault Ste. Marie Community Development Award Committee is pleased to announce that nominations are now being accepted for the 2022 Community Development Award.

Presented annually by City Council, the Award recognizes exceptional community development projects and is given to a local business or organization; with the goal of highlighting innovative ideas and inspiring others to meet the standards set by successful projects.

Previous award winners include the Queenstown IDA, The Machine Shop, Savoy’s Jewelers, The Trading Post and Frontier Village, the Canadian Bushplane Heritage Centre, the Waterfront Walkway and Lyons Timber Mart.

“Community development is an all-encompassing term. We are looking for projects that contribute to the community in some way, such as fostering growth, sustainability and innovation, enhancing quality of life, preserving our natural resources or promoting equity and inclusivity,” said Rebecca Evans, Chair of the Community Development Award Committee. “Projects are evaluated for creativity and impact rather than size and cost.”

The Community Development Award Committee will be accepting nominations for the award until June 10, 2022. Nominations can be submitted to:
