No Rogue One for you, Sault Ste. Marie. Not today anyway

Local Star Wars fans are apparently out of luck.

Station Mall, which houses Galaxy Cinemas, will remain closed for the rest of the day.

That means fans will not be able to enjoy the local premiere of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story today.

Station Mall management states the shopping centre will be closed because City Transit has decided not to run its buses to and from the mall, as travelling the city’s roads is a challenge after Wednesday evening’s snowstorm.

Fans have expressed their disappointment online.

“Our family bought four reserved tickets, my son ordered a Jedi costume on the Internet, he’s got a light sabre, he was jacked to go there today," said a caller to SooToday, who identified himself as Steve.

“Now I suspect all the reserved seats for the next three days will be booked, so we won’t be able to see that movie for another three or four days,” Steve said.

“I think they should have allowed Galaxy to remain open, and if they were worried about people going into the mall, they should have kept a security guard there to keep people from going that way.”

“I would have paid his wages,” Steve stated.

“There’s going to be a lot of disappointed people.”

Station Mall suggested on its Facebook page that those who had tickets for tonight contact Galaxy on Friday regarding ticket exchanges.
