No more free parking at the Group Health Centre

The health care inside may be free, but not the parking outside; new pay-and-display system now in effect at the Group Health parking lot on McNabb Street

The days of free parking are over at the Group Health Centre on McNabb Street.

Months after shutting down its old-school parking meters — citing rampant vandalism and how difficult it is to find replacement parts — Group Health has officially unveiled a new pay and display system.

The parking lot now boasts three payment machines, which run on solar power and turn off when not in use.

The rate is $2.50 for every 20 minutes of parking, up to 60 minutes. The machines accept coins, credit or debit.

“Instructions are posted to each machine to help users,” says a Facebook post from Group Health. “For any assistance, please contact the front desk.”

At least the health care is still free.
