No foul play in Breton Road death, police say (updated)

Sault Police have told SooToday there is no foul play suspected in the case of a body found behind a Breton Road residence Sunday.

As reported earlier several police vehicles, including a forensics van, were seen on Breton Road for several hours Sunday, a reader phone tip to SooToday indicating a body was seen being removed from a wooded area behind an apartment building.

“After investigation it was determined there was no foul play,” said Staff Sgt. Ben Bolduc.

The body was that of an adult male, the scene released from police inspection earlier Monday, Bolduc said. 

Full text of a news release issued today by the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service follows:

On Aug. 25, 2019, the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service were notified of a deceased male located in the 100 block of Breton Road.

At that time officers with the Investigation Services Unit of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service began an investigation.

A post-mortem was completed on Aug. 26, 2019. Police do not suspect any foul play or criminality in the death of the male.

The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service has concluded its investigation.
