Beatrice Nahwegahbow was making a dreamcatcher this afternoon as the Shingwauk Education Trust held its spring retreat at the Great Northern Resort and Conference Centre.

A member of Birch Island First Nation now living in North Bay, Nahwegahbow attended the Shingwauk School in Sault Ste. Marie from 1942 to 1950.

She remembers seeing the blimps that were flown over the Soo Locks for antiaircraft protection during World War II.

The two-day event on Great Northern Road was funded by the Aboriginal Healing Foundation.
