Customer service representatives Amy Lebreton and Allison Bartok were sampling tunes on the CD listening post when SooToday.com visited HMV's 'store of the future' at Station Mall.

The store, one of the first of its kind in Canada, uses plasma TV screens and a host of interactive features to sell a new product mix including new emphases on videogame hardware and iPod accessories.

The Station Mall location has expanded selections of television DVD box sets, documentaries and other products aimed at HMV's core demographic of 14- to 24-year-olds.

The 80-year-old company has 123 stores in Canada, 400 worldwide. SooToday.com was unable to leave the store without putting down a big chunk of our paycheck for a hard-to-find DVD box set of two Akira Kurosawa films from the early 1960s, Yojimbo and Sanjuro.
