HURON-SUPERIOR CATHOLIC DISTRICT SCHOOL BOARD

************************* Bruni re-elected chairperson of the HSCDSB

Marchy Bruni was re-elected chairperson of the Huron-Superior Catholic District School Board Wednesday night in a vote by trustees at their inaugural meeting.

This will be his second consecutive one-year term.

Trustee John Caputo was elected vice-chairperson.

"I am pleased with this opportunity to continue leading this board,” says Bruni.

"We have a challenging year ahead with budget constraints.

"However, we can be excited about initiatives aimed at improving student achievement and the progress we have made in this area.

"As well, our board will be hosting the Canadian Catholic School Trustees’ Association (CCSTA) Convention in June."

Bruni co-chairs the board’s CCSTA convention committee with Trustee Caputo.

"I would like to thank the other trustees on the board for the confidence they have placed in me to continue in this role and for their support over the past year.

"I look forward to working with them, our administration and all partners to ensure Catholic education remains vibrant in our area."

"Our trustees do tremendous work on behalf of our students, parents, staff, the Catholic community, and ratepayers,” says John Stadnyk, director of education.

"It is an honour to work with a group of people with such a passion for Catholic education and who lead our system by making all decisions with the guidance of our values, vision and mission statements."

Former board chairs include Regis O’Connor and Gerald Beerkens.

Chairs and vice-chairs of the school board are elected by trustees each November.
