NEWS RELEASE

HURON-SUPERIOR CATHOLIC DISTRICT SCHOOL BOARD

************************* SAULT STE. MARIE - The Huron-Superior Catholic District School Board is pleased to announce new principal placements at six of its schools, one of them secondary and the remainder elementary.

Larry Pezzutto returns to his old position as principal at Holy Angels Learning Centre in Sault Ste. Marie following the retirement of Gloria Yeo.

Pezzutto has split time since February at Holy Angels and as leader of student success.

“Larry brings a professionalism and steady demeanor necessary for the dynamics involved in an adult learning environment. He has shown in the past an ability to adapt to the special needs that many of our students at Holy Angels have. We’re very confident he will maintain the high standards and success stories this school cultivated in the past few years,” said Director of Education John Stadnyk.

Two of the new elementary school principal placements are in Sault Ste. Marie.

Domenic Rosso takes over from retiring principal Peter Cerra at St. Bernadette Catholic School and Kristen Coulter replaces Linda Pozzebon at St. Mark Catholic School.

Pozzebon has taken over the principal’s position at St. Theresa Catholic School.

“Domenic has big shoes to fill but, by serving as vice-principal under Peter Cerra we know he is well prepared for this new challenge,” said Stadnyk.

“Kristen has also had the benefit of the tutelage of a superb role model and because of that she has demonstrated the leadership and compassion necessary to lead our team at St. Mark.” said Stadnyk. Three Principal appointments were made in HSCDSB schools to the east and north.

Serving as acting Principal at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic School in Elliot Lake is long-time educator Dennis Lefave.

“Dennis was brought out of retirement last year to oversee our Accommodation Review Process and graciously agreed to take the reins at Our Lady of Fatima shortly after that process ended. We’re confident his wisdom will shine through in his new, yet familiar, role. Taking on both of these challenges shows Dennis’ dedication to Catholic education,” said Stadnyk.

In Wawa at St. Joseph Catholic School, Anne Colaiezzi takes over from her husband Lyle who retired in the spring.

“Anne has a wealth of experience and a good sense of what the school community needs. We’re ecstatic that someone who has been part of the greater Wawa community is taking the reins at St. Joseph,” said Stadnyk.

The new principal of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic School in Chapleau is Maria Salazar.

“Maria has a unique set of qualities to deal with the requirements of this school. More importantly, she has the respect of the students, staff and community by becoming an active participant in town functions,” said Stadnyk.

With the exception of Pezzutto and Lefave, as noted, the principals began their new duties on August 31.
