HURON-SUPERIOR CATHOLIC DISTRICT SCHOOL BOARD

************************* SAULT STE. MARIE - The Huron-Superior Catholic District School Board opened the 2008-2009 school year with a special liturgy on Tuesday, September 2nd.

Hundreds of employees gathered to pray for a successful year for all involved in Catholic education and for an official dedication of the Mount St. Joseph Centre – formerly Mount St. Joseph College.

After the prestigious all-girls Catholic school closed its doors in June 2006 the Board decided to utilize the facilities 'The Mount' had to offer by moving a number of departments, spread throughout the city, to the now 50-year old structure.

A number of departments: curriculum, IT, communications and special education were brought together.

The move created a renewed sense of pride within the board as once again 'The Mount' is a place where learning is enhanced and thrives.

This was the original goal of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Sault Ste. Marie when they built Mount St. Joseph College and we're proud to keep their vision alive at Mount St. Joseph Centre.

Along with current employees, members of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Sault Ste. Marie and other special guests will be on hand to participate in the dedication liturgy and ceremony.
