The lone new forest fire in the region, one located roughly 12 km east of Searchmont, is currently under control, according to Aviation, Forest Fire and Emergency Services.
In a release issued Saturday evening, Sault Ste. Marie 11 had been deemed under control at 0.1 of a hectare.
The fire is one of 16 active forest fires in the northeast region.
Of the 16 fires, two are under control while 14 are currently being observed.
In areas east of Parry Sound and North Bay as well as areas west of Wawa and north of Kapuskasing, the fire hazard is mostly moderate.
The central portion of the region is currently showing a high to extreme hazard,
