Ontario NDP leader Howard Hampton and Sault MPP Tony Martin scrabbled at the Anna McCrea rink today, trying to stickhandle Premier Ernie Eves into calling an election.
"When you play hard and play fair on the hockey rink, chances are you’ll win the game. But that’s not how things work in Ontario anymore," Hampton said. "Seven-plus years of Conservative gross misconduct have left hard-working Ontarians against the boards, struggling to pay the bills and raise their families.
"More than ever, the people of Ontario deserve a say over their future. Premier Eves should call the ultimate referendum, an election now," said the NDP leader, who in earlier years played collegiate hockey player at University of Toronto and Dartmouth College.
Shooting objects he called "public power pucks" into an "Eves dirty deals" target, Hampton called on the Government to cancel legislation allowing the sale of Ontario’s hydro and health care assets until an election is held to decide the issue.
