Five NATO soldiers were killed as the result of an explosion triggered by a suicide bomber at an Afghan military base near Jalalabad this morning. Four Afghan soldiers also died and eight people were left injured.

Five NATO soldiers were killed as the result of an explosion triggered by a suicide bomber at an Afghan military base near Jalalabad this morning.

Four Afghan soldiers also died and eight people were left injured. The Taliban have claimed responsibility.

The number of attacks led by militants has increased in the east and north of Afghanistan since many of them were driven from their strongholds.
