SooToday.com received the following letter from faithful reader Rick Geroux:

************************* Hi Dave:

My wife and I live on BaseLine.

We have 30 acres, a horse, two cats and two dogs: Molly a 20-pound mixed breed and Zoobee, a 10-year-old American Staffordshire terrier.

Saturday morning as I was making a pot of coffee, I looked out our kitchen window as the two dogs were doing their business.

In the corner of my eye, I saw a very large coyote come rushing out of our side yard and chomp onto the head of the little dog!

At the same time, Zoobee rams into the coyote and sends it flying.

Everybody gets up and starts running into trails we have cut in our back yard.

My wife frantically chases after our dogs and eventually comes home with a bloody Molly and a just-fine Zoobee.

I have no doubt Molly would have been killed and eaten if not for Zoobee's quick interception of the attacker.

Sometimes "man's best friend" can be a dog's best friend too.

Except for three puncture holes and a lot of bruising, Molly is fine and is sleeping by her buddy Zoobee.
