Organizers of the Winter Carnival Bon Soo unveiled their 2010 logo button last night, with a design playing off the spirit of the Vancouver Olympics.

Organizers of the Winter Carnival Bon Soo unveiled their 2010 logo button last night, with a design playing off the spirit of the Vancouver Olympics.

They announced that the Athletes Foot outlet in Station Mall will be their official souvenir store, and released details on a slew of new events.

Bon Soo 2010 begins its 47th season – February 5 to 14

- 2010 Button Logo design this year captures the spirit of the Vancouver 2010 Olympics. Brian Oja of Cliffe Printing, designer.

- Sponsors who have increased their level of support for 2010: Northern Credit Union, Metro, Muio’s and Sault Insurance Brokers Association.

- New Event for 2010 – High School Challenge - “The Next Generation” where students compete for glory, honour and all important bragging rights, the first rule of the challenge is fun! Competitors will go head to head in Snow Sculpting and Comedy Night Challenges.

- New sponsors and supporters for 2010 – Service Rental, Christie Campers, 2nd Line Storage, Superior Asphalt and Markings, Metro, Flakeboard, Transcom, Vianet Internet Solutions, Top Tech Automotive, the Golden Crust Pizza Co., and Allstate Insurance, Solo Tratoria, Allstate Insurance, Money Mart, Medicine Shoppe in the Doctors Building, Capco Construction, Superior Home Comfort, Brody’s Sports Bar and Grill, Northern Credit Union.

- Metro has graciously donated $1,000 in shopping cards for use as our raffle prize - $2 tickets are on sale now.

New community events for 2010

- Muios Family Swim.

- Basswerx Recording – Soo Musician Showcase.

- Buttermilk Resort evening of fine food and wine along with fireworks.

- Linda’s Pet Grooming fun competitions and fashion show for dogs.

- SSM Touch Football Association Snow Bowl. - Full Gospel Business Men's Fellowship – hosting two events: Community Praise and Worship Service as well as an Annual Sweetheart Dinner. - The Golden Crust Pizza Co. – 3rd annual Bon Soo Colouring Event with prizes to be won.

New additions to the Tim Hortons Winter Playground - City Transit department offering the Free Bon Soo Shuttle from the downtown core to Bellevue Park for the 5th, 6th, 7th, 13th and 14th with your Bon Soo button. Along with new shuttle service from AUC for opening night only.

- The next stage of the Snow Flake Trails. Beautiful banners will greet visitors.

- Winter Playground Snow Sculptor Karen Fralich returns this year.

- Log Sawing Timbersports demonstration on site.

- Echoes Drum Festival Performers will join us at the Polar Bear Swim as a ceremonial start to the swim.

- RBC brings opening night entertainment tributes to Jonas Bros., Hannah Montana, Demi Lovato. Local performers Tracey Hilderley and Alison Newbery. Fireworks courtesy of OLG and Tim Hortons free hot chocolate.

- Souvenir outlet - Bon Soo is thrilled to announce that the Athletes Foot in the Station Mall will be the official souvenir outlet.

- City Wide Decorating Contest sponsored by Lamons Printing. Three categories: financial institutions, businesses and residential. Win prizes and awards. Breakfast for this event on Wednesday, February 10 to find out the winners and enjoy entertainment by the Schryer Lefevbre family.

- Scotiabank brings us Greyhound Skate – a special thank you to the Greyhound Club.

- Transcom brings us Mascot Skate chance to win $100 for those that come dressed in a costume. A wonderful family event for the young and old.

- Scotiabank brings us youth concert – a tribute to Camp Rock Revisited starring Jonas Brothers, Hannah Montana and Demi Lovato. Tickets are only $10 - great idea for a stocking stuffer. - Allstate Insurance brings us Kids Concert – Lenny Graf as seen on Tree House. Tickets are only $10 and include local entertainer Alison Newbery and after the shows a Kraft Korner for the first 100 kids.

- Vincor Wines is back for the fourth year. We are excited to announce that their new line "Open{ will be the choice of wine for 2010.

Art and culture component to Bon Soo

Bon Soo continues to support the art community with Impromptu Artscape. Local Artists Claire Beachamp and Kyla Morrison. Both artists will work in their own medium but the pieces will depict a winter theme.
