Looking for a way to get outside, have fun with friends and family, and make a difference in our community? The Miracle Mile Colour Blast presented by Community First is the most colourful fundraiser of the year for Rotary youth projects.

Hundreds of participants will run, walk, or wheel (using mobility devices) down Queen Street in front of the Rotary Community Day Parade presented by Brookfield through three colour stations on their way to the final blast at the Essar Centre parking lot on Saturday, July 21.

The minimum amount of pledges for an individual is only $20 and includes a shirt, sunglasses, and Colour Blast Pack. New this year, individual participants who fundraise $500 or more will be entered into a draw for a Kawasaki Z125 courtesy of KiSS 100.5. Every additional $100 raised will earn an extra ballot.

This event is for all ages, and families (up to two guardians and three children under 18) can participate with a minimum of $40 in pledges and will receive two t-shirts. Children under two can participate for free.

“We couldn’t be more thrilled to be the presenting sponsor for Miracle Mile Colour Blast for the fifth consecutive year, and to continue our over 18 years of involvement with Rotaryfest. We believe Rotary’s ongoing commitment to community and youth aligns with our community investment program and that’s why we continually return as the sponsor for this event,” shared Liisa Woolley, Community First’s Chief Member Services & Wealth Management Officer.

“Local community programs to improve neighbourhoods along with family-oriented events are an important part of our community investment program. Staff volunteers love being involved with Rotaryfest in such a fun and interactive way. We encourage the community to come out and support this great event, either as a participant or to cheer on the runners as they get colour blasted! The best part of this event is coming together to raise funds for Rotary while having a great time in the spirit of community!”

Pre-registration is strongly advised to ensure you are able to get your T-shirt size of choice and takes place Friday, July 20 from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Canadian Bushplane Heritage Centre, or participants can register the morning of Saturday, July 21 from 9 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. at the Canadian Bushplane Heritage Centre. Those who decide to pre-register will be entered to win a prize package from Community First!

This event can also be used as a fundraiser for groups or teams. Teams that raise a minimum of $20 per member (minimum five members) will send receive a cheque for 50 per cent of the total amount the team raised. Teams and fundraising causes must be approved by Rotary prior to registration.

Don’t succumb to summer boredom! Get outside, get active, and support Rotary Youth Projects with friends and family of all fitness levels - It’s not a race, it’s a blast!
