Moonlight magic heralds in Christmas season for Sault downtown (9 photos)

'Shopping local has never been more important,' said Downtown Association executive director

The Downtown Association officially kicked off the festive season in Sault Ste. Marie with its Moonlight Magic event on Thursday evening. There was no in-person gathering for the Community Tree Lighting Ceremony, however, the tree was lit and a number of patrons came out to see what local merchants were offering.

"Shopping local has never been more important and downtown Sault Ste. Marie has something for everyone on your list. We hope our community enjoys the light displays from our Downtown merchants and the added light features from the City and PUC in a safe and responsible manner,” said Salvatore Marchese, executive director, Downtown Association in a press release before the event.
