***************************** Forest fire situation update - East Fire Region

Ontario forest fire fighting crews dispatched to British Columbia last week are returning to Ontario while crews sent to Alberta remain on duty there.

148 personnel will be back in Ontario by the end of June 22 while 96 staff will remain in Alberta.

Two water bombers sent to Fort McMurray, Alberta returned to Dryden, Ontario Sunday June, 21.

There have been two new fires confirmed for June 22.

North Bay 16 is 0.1 hectares and has already been called out, and Wawa 13 is 0.1 hectares and is under control.

There was one new fire reported in the East Fire Region on the evening of June 21.

North Bay 15 is 0.3 hectares in size and is under control.

Currently there are eight active fires in the region. 

There are four active fires in Cochrane district, two active fires in Wawa district and one each in Timmins, and North Bay districts.

The fire hazard within the East Fire Region is forecasted to be moderate to high for the majority of the East Fire Region, with an area of low in the far north.
