FOREST FIRE UPDATE

************************* East Fire Region situation update

Monday July 9, 2007

HIGHLIGHTS:

• 2 new; 4 active fires.

• 260 fires; 2845.7 hectares to date since April 1.

DETAILS:

There have been two new fires in the last 24 hours:

- Sudbury 68 – 0.2 hectare fire that is not yet under control.

- Sudbury 69 – 0.1 hectare fires that are not yet under control.

Active fires include: - Cochrane 20 & 22 – lightning fires west of Fort Albany.

Cloud with showers will remain over most of the East Fire Region along with a few isolated showers.

Temperatures will be slightly below seasonal with light to moderate winds.

The Ministry of Natural Resources reminds the public that before burning please check with your municipality to be advised of their burning regulations.

Never leave your fire unattended and make sure it is completely extinguished before leaving.
