There are 294 Ontario fire personnel assisting with the forest fire situation in British Columbia.

One hundred and seventy-two personnel arrived Sunday, July 26 and the reminder arrived Thursday, July 23.

The latest contingent of fire fighters are currently receiving their forest fire fighting assignments, most of the group, that left earlier last week, are positioned for initial attack in southern B.C. or assigned to active fires in the province.

Ontario FireRangers are currently posted at the BC Coastal Fire, Caribou and Kamloops Fire Centres.

Within Ontario, there have been no new fires reported in the East Fire Region within the last 24 hours.

There are no active fires in the region.

To ensure your campfire doesn't become a wildfire make sure you check for local restrictions, use a designated fire pit if one is available, keep water and a shovel nearby, never leave your fire unattended and make sure your campfire is completely extinguished before leaving the site.
