SUDBURY — A frantic mother called Greater Sudbury Police at 5:21 p.m. Monday after her young son went missing from the family’s New Sudbury property.

She told police her two-year-old son had gone missing from the home.

GSPS mobilized officers from various units to search streets, businesses and playgrounds in the neighbourhood of the home.

Within 20 minutes, at 5:49 p.m., the toddler was located by the police canine team. He had wandered about one kilometre from his home in a wooded area.

Police said they figure the youngster wandered along dirt trail north of the house. He was playing in a nearby sand pit and was returned home in good health.
