Millvina Dean 1912-2009

The last survivor of the sinking of the Titanic, Millvina Dean, has died at a nursing home at the age of 97.

Dean was just nine weeks old when she sailed out of Southampton, England on the Titanic's infamous maiden voyage.

Her father died when the ship struck an iceberg and sank.

Dean's mother and sister survived and returned with her to Southhampton, where she spent most of her life.

The BBC reports that Dean was having difficulty paying her rent at the nursing home where she lived and had recently sold off some of her Titanic memorabilia.
