Mill Market becomes Soo Market on Saturday morning

Opening ceremony for new market beside the downtown plaza is set for this weekend; contrary to published report, city has yet to announce when neighbouring plaza will open

An opening ceremony is planned for Saturday morning at the new Mill Market site.

The new downtown location, dubbed Soo Market, is at 73 Brock Street, beside the yet-to-be-opened downtown plaza.

The new market will feature more than two dozen vendors bringing a mix of farm fresh produce and artisanal goods.

A formal presentation is set for 8:30 a.m. Saturday, followed by the official grand opening at 9 a.m.

Contrary to a recent media report, the neighbouring downtown plaza will not be opening this weekend. The city has yet to announce that date.
