Two Michigan men arrested after they were seen videotaping the Ambassador Bridge in Detroit had dynamite, immigration papers and shotgun shells in their car, the Associated Press is reporting.
The men are being held on a felony charge, possession of a dangerous weapon, after a collapsible baton similar to those issued to police was also found in their vehicle.
Police report that the car's contents included two quarter-sticks of dynamite.
That wouldn't be enough to damage the bridge, but FBI officials are considering seeking additional charges.
The men were seen videotaping the bridge during a routine police patrol at 10 p.m. last night.
Ship traffic halted by downed power lines
In an unrelated Seaway story, shipping traffic on the St. Clair River has been halted after a 200-foot-tower toppled near Marysville, Michigan, sending electrical wires into the water.
The two downed lines connected the Michigan and Ontario power grids. Two other lines were hanging about 50 feet above the river.
The collapsed tower was on the Ontario side, the Associated Press says.
Officials said marine traffic will not resume until the wires have been removed.
The tower collapsed during heavy thunderstorms last night.
