PUC crews worked through the night to fix a burst water main serving Memorial Gardens.

The break occurred last evening and flooded Bay Street but did not curtail activities at the Gardens, PUC Superintendent of Water Distribution Paul Dalsag told SooToday News.

PUC workers started work on the problem before 9 p.m. yesterday and didn't finish up until 6 a.m. today.

The Bay Street burst was one of several breaks occuring over the past 24 hours.

A flood of busted pipes

A water pipe burst early this morning at the corner of Korah Road and Second Line. A curb lane on Second Line west of Korah has been closed until repairs can be made.

Other breaks occurred between 10:30 and 11 a.m. today on Brien Avenue (between Poplar Avenue and McNabb Street) and on Country Club Place.

Yesterday afternoon, Queen Street East was briefly closed in front of the Great Lakes Forestry Centre after a water main broke in front of a residence on Elizabeth Street, sending a torrent of water downhill to Queen Street, where it stood one-foot-deep until catch basins were cleared.

Received today from a SooToday.com reader who posted a free ad in SooToday's classified section:

"Just to let you know how effective your site is, I had listed this place with two different real estate companies, advertised extensively in the Sault Star and Sault This Week but had no response.

"I advertised with SooToday.com and the house was sold within one month. FABULOUS!!!!!"
