Meet Garden River's Cop of the Year

Constable Marc Lesage (shown) of the Anishinabek Police Service, Garden River Detachment, was one of four recipients of 2004 Police Services Awards presented today by the Sault Ste. Marie Chamber of Commerce.

The awards recognize Officers of the Year in four area police services: the Ontario Provincial Police, Royal Canadian Mounted Police, Anishinabek Police Service, and Sault Ste. Marie Police Service.

Today's awards were presented at the Holiday Inn with about 180 Chamber of Commerce members and other members of the general public in attendance.

Selection criteria included continued efforts in pursuit of excellence, high standards of performance and dedication, performance above and beyond the call of duty, community-mindedness and bravery.

Other winners included:

Constable Marc LeSage

Constable Marc LeSage is a repeat recipient for this prestigious award.

The identified judging criteria states that the recipient show continued efforts in the pursuit of excellence as a police officer.

Cst. LeSage positively displays this quality through his daily encounters with the members of the community he serves and through his dedication to investigative excellence.

This past year, Cst. LeSage welcomed the opportunity to act in the capacity as coach officer for one of our newest members.

Due to his high standard of professionalism, Marc continues to strengthen and enhance the overall operation of the Garden River Detachment.
