Yielding to growing pressure from angry consumers and frustrated retailers, the Ontario government has eliminated eco fees it introduced on July 1.
The decision comes one day after Canadian Tire announced it would stop collecting the controversial levy, which it called "botched" and "confusing."
The government-mandated charge forced purchasers to pay more for thousands of potentially hazardous items.
