McDougall Energy has made a $10,000 donation to Christmas Cheer.

The donation is to support Christmas Cheer in giving gift baskets to community members in need.

Christmas Cheer's co-convenor was thankful for the "overwhelming generosity of the local community" as demand continues to grow.

Operating in the Sault area since the 1960s, Christmas Cheer is supported by local volunteers, community stakeholders, and donors who collect, organize and distribute gift baskets to recipients in preparation for the holiday season.

Monetary donations are managed by the Sault Star Santa Fund, which helps the organization purchase gift cards, hygiene products and other items for gift baskets.

Christmas Cheer is expected to support more than 2,000 households from Batchewana to Bruce Mines this year and is among 37 charities and non-profit organizations that McDougall Energy has donated to this holiday season.

“McDougall Energy is built on the communities we operate in," said Darren McDougall, president of McDougall Energy, in a news release. "This holiday, we’ve worked with our team members across Ontario to give back to worthwhile charities and organizations that are dedicated to alleviating financial stress and food insecurity over the holiday season. Our donation is a small contribution compared to the ongoing work the charities and their volunteers are doing for members within their communities."
