MATTHEWS MEMORIAL HOSPITAL ASSOCIATION

************************* RICHARDS LANDING - The Matthews Memorial Hospital Association is pleased to announce the successful recruitment of Dr. Karen Booth to a permanent Rural Northern Physician Group Agreement contract in Richards Landing effective May 8.

Dr. Booth,, a Sault native, is a family physician with a specialty in emergency medicine.

She is also an assistant professor with the Northern Ontario School of Medicine.

Dr. Booth has agreed to take on the role of lead physician at the St. Joseph Island Medical Clinic which will undergo reorganization and the implementation of electronic medical records.

Recruitment of a second permanent physician continues as well as efforts to secure short-term locums until the permanent replacements can assume their new positions.

Association board chair Connie Witty said: “We are thrilled to have been successful in recruiting a physician of Dr. Booth's calibre. I'm confident that the short term obstacles we are currently facing will be overcome and with Dr. Booth's assistance and input we will fill the second vacancy soon.”
