Martin to seek input on local priorities at round table on January 23
SAULT STE. MARIE, ON - (January 12) – Sault MP Tony Martin is inviting riding municipalities, non-profit agencies and smaller businesses to a round table January 23 to help set funding priorities for the Canada Summer Jobs 2009 program.
Martin has been told to expect $300,503 in riding funding.
"The round table last January enabled the community organizations to establish the local priorities that influence funding decisions and I expect our meeting this year will do the same," Martin said.
"The Canada Summer Jobs program supports work experiences for students as well as organizations providing important community services," Martin said.
Martin and the NDP were instrumental in both the 38th and 39th Parliaments to launch studies that eventually reformed the program to include funding priorities for Northern, rural, more remote and inner city areas.
The round table will be held at the Civic Centre, Ramsey Room, from 10 a.m. to 12 noon.
Municipalities, non-profit agencies and businesses with fewer than 50 employees are eligible to apply for funding.
