OPP investigating shooting incident in Kirkland Lake
KIRKLAND LAKE, ON, Oct. 19 - The Ontario Provincial Police are investigating a shooting incident that occurred in Kirkland Lake on Monday, October 18, 2004. At approximately 8:45 p.m. yesterday, OPP responded to a 911 call that was placed from a Main Street residence in Kirkland Lake, after gun shots were heard. Upon arriving at a Main Street residence, the OPP found a male on the front lawn, who had sustained an apparent gun shot injury.
The victim was taken to local hospital, and was subsequently air lifted to a Toronto hospital where he remains in critical condition.
The victim's name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin. The investigation is being conducted by members of the OPP Kirkland Lake detachment Northeast Region Crime Unit, under the direction of D/Insp. Mark Pritchard of the Criminal Investigation Branch, Orillia. As the investigation continues, police are seeking the public's assistance.
