Male found in distress near Pine Shores Road, pronounced deceased at hospital

OPP respond to male in distress

GOULAIS TOWNSHIP - On July 30, 2016 at approximately 3:30 p.m. Sault Ste. Marie Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and Goulais Fire and Rescue responded to a male in distress in the water on the Goulais River near the 1700 block of Pine Shores Road.

A 61-year-old male was transported to hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

A post mortem is scheduled for Tuesday, August 2, 2016 in Sault Ste. Marie.

The investigation is continuing.
