************************* Male arrested for sexual assault

Detectives with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested a 25-year-old male on the 17th of June at 9:30 a.m. at his residence and charged him with two counts of sexual assault.

Officers completed a dated sexual assault investigation involving the accused and a female relative and as a result charged the accused.

It is alleged that that the accused sexually assaulted the victim on two occasions between June and November 2004.

The accused is to appear in court on the 25th of July.

The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service conducted a RIDE Program on Saturday evening.

- 428 vehicles checked

- Four roadside tests administered

- One breath test administered

- One 7-day suspension

- One 30-day suspension

- Four other provincial offences notices

- One 90-day ADLS over .80

- One 253(b) consume over the legal limit charge under the Criminal Code of Canada.

************************* Break and enter reports

A break and enter was reported to a residence on Pozzebon Crescent.

A male suspect entered through the front door and was chased away by the home owner.

His description was 14-16 years of age, brush cut, short, average build.

Officers checked the area with negative results.

A residence on Sutton Place was broken into on June 19.

A television was reported stolen.

A residence on Parliament Street was entered between June 16 and17.

A Toshiba laptop was taken.

A residence on St. Georges Avenue was entered between June 14 an d 16.

A Kenmore stove was reported taken.

************************* Theft reports

Two youths were observed going through vehicles in the 1600 block of Second Line West and Carpin Beach Road.

Police were called but the youths fled prior to their arrival.

Officers searched the area with negative results.

Sunglasses and a GPS were reported taken.

A locker at the John Rhodes was entered and cash was reported taken.

A vehicle was entered on Shafer Avenue: Cash was taken from a purse that had been left inside.

A driver’s licence was taken from a vehicle on Wawanosh Avenue.

Parts from a motorbike were stolen from a yard on Panoramic Drive.

A Blackberry Bold was taken from a vehicle parked in a parking lot on Great Northern Road.

************************* Mischief reports

Van tires were reported slashed on Maple Street.

Two panes of glass were smashed on a bus shelter on Trunk Road.

A Brock Street business had a window smashed.
