************************* People - lock your vehicles

ELLIOT LAKE, ON - The East Algoma OPP in Elliot Lake is currently investigating several thefts from unlocked vehicles.

On July 8 between 11 p.m. and July 9 at 7 a.m., unknown persons entered an unlocked vehicle on McKeown Road in Elliot Lake and stole a pair of sunglasses. Also cigarettes, a CD and loose change were taken from an unlocked vehicle on Bracken Place. On Brown Road, again an unlocked vehicle was entered and a cheque was stolen.

On July 10, a vehicle parked on Roman Avenue was entered, stolen was loose change and cigarettes.

July 12 between 8 p.m. and July 13 at 10 a.m., unknown persons entered an unlocked vehicle on Stevens Road and stole a Canadian Tire gift card.

Once again, on July 14, police received two complaints of an unlocked vehicles on Mississauga Avenue being entered but nothing was missing. Also a vehicle on Capital Place was entered and loose change was taken.

************************* Unattended vehicle damaged

ELLIOT LAKE, ON - Police are currently investigating the report of a mischief to a vehicle.

On July 10 at approximately 9 a.m., police attended a parking lot at a local high school in Elliot Lake.

Investigation revealed that unknown person(s) damaged a vehicle by using a sharp object.

Damage was done to the hood and driver's side of the vehicle.

Anyone with information regarding the above mischief is asked to call the OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477

************************ Two local males charged

ELLIOT LAKE, ON - On July 10 at approximately 11:52 a.m., officers of the East Algoma OPP received a call to attend a residence on Kain Crescent regarding a possible assault.

Police attended the residence and spoke with the victim.

During the course of the investigation, police learned that one of the suspects had allegedly assaulted the victim on June 20.

Police located and arrested both suspects.

Charged with assault with a weapon is David Jenkins (18) of Elliot Lake.

Also charged with the following is Raymond Young (18) of Elliot Lake.

- Assault with a weapon (two counts).

- Utter threat to cause death or bodily harm.

Both Jenkins and Young are scheduled to appear in Elliot Lake court on September 1.

************************* Trespass and possession charges

ELLIOT LAKE, ON - During the early hours of July 14, police were called to attend the area of Mississauga Avenue regarding youths attempting to enter vehicles.

Patrol of the immediate area was conducted and police located a youth in the yard of a residence on Bouck Road. The suspect ran from the residence and police located the suspect at a residence on Roman Avenue.

During the search of the suspect police located cannabis.

Charged with the following is a 17-year-old male youth:

- Trespass/ prowl near dwelling house. - Possession of cannabis – under 30 grams.

The name of the accused will not be released as per the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

The accused was in custody awaiting a bail hearing on July 14.

************************* Broken window

ELLIOT LAKE, ON - On the 12th of July, police attended a local high school to investigate a broken window.

On scene, police learned that sometime overnight someone broke the exterior pane of a door window situated at the entrance of the technical wing of the school.
