A significant decision affecting the future of the Jeanette Niganobe case is expected sometime Monday from Superior Court Justice Larry Whalen.

The 31-year-old woman sat through a fifth day of pre-trial motions and evidence today, related to her upcoming jury trial on charges of impaired driving and dangerous driving causing the death of City Police Constable Donald Doucet last May.

Niganobe wore a white sweater and black slacks during her appearance today.

Some days, news media have been severely limited in what they may lawfully publish about the pre-trial proceedings.

Today was such a day.

Earlier this week, Justice Whalen agreed to allow Niganobe to stay, under house arrest, at the Batchewana First Nation home of her future in-laws during her trial.

Judge Whalen denied a request from Niganobe's lawyer, Eric McCooeye, that would have allowed her to live with her fiancé Derek McCoy during her trial.
