Luciano Pavarotti, the acclaimed and beloved Italian tenor, has died at age 71 from pancreatic cancer. Pavarotti died this morning at his home in the ancient city of Modena in north central Italy.

Luciano Pavarotti, the acclaimed and beloved Italian tenor, has died at age 71 from pancreatic cancer.

Pavarotti died this morning at his home in the ancient city of Modena in north central Italy.

"The maestro fought a long, tough battle against the pancreatic cancer which eventually took his life," Pavarotti's agent, Terri Robson, said in a statement issued to the Associated Press.

"In fitting with the approach that characterised his life and work, he remained positive until finally succumbing to the last stages of his illness," Robson said.
