Faculty, staff, and administrators at regional K-12 schools and higher education institutions are invited to submit presentation proposals for the 2023 Upper Peninsula Teaching and Learning Conference (UPTLC) to be held on May 15-16 at Lake Superior State University. The theme for the annual event is Building Bridges: Creating Pathways for Superior Success.
“The goal of the conference is that attendees take away skills and knowledge to help bridge connections to successful learning in higher education and K-12,” said Marc Boucher, director of library and academic services at LSSU. “This conference will focus on possibilities, strengths, and strategies to make the most of our work as educational professionals. We anticipate educators in Northern WI, all of the UP, and all of MI will be interested, along with Northern Ontario.”
Started in 2017, UPTLC celebrates and examines the practice and scholarship of teaching and learning in primary, secondary, and higher education through a combination of comprehensive presentations, concurrent sessions, poster sessions, and a pre-conference workshop. Educators explore trends, strategies, and best practices in teaching. Michigan Technological University and Northern Michigan University have hosted earlier conferences.
“This is an exciting opportunity for educators, whether they are K-12 or higher ed, to participate in a high-quality professional development conference,” said LSSU Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Lynn Gillette.
Proposals for presentations, panels, and workshops are welcome. Sessions will run 25 or 50 minutes apiece. Poster presentations are also encouraged. The deadline to submit all proposals is Dec. 31, 2022 online.
