That's the first time that has happened since 1976.
After reaching $1.0003 US on foreign exchange markets, the loonie quickly dropped back to 99.88 cents US.
The Bank of Canada exchange rate is a nominal quote, not a buying or selling rate.
Rates available from financial institutions will differ.
