************************* Innovation Centre announces appointment of marketing and communications manager

September 28, 2010 - The Sault Ste. Marie Innovation Centre (SSMIC) is pleased to announce that Jonathan Coulman has been appointed to the position of marketing and communications manager.

In this capacity, Jonathan will be responsible for all of SSMIC’s external marketing and communications activities, as well as managing a number of the organization’s programs and events.

Jonathan brings with him more than 15 years of experience in senior-level marketing positions in both the public and private sectors.

Before joining SSMIC, Jonathan was the senior marketing manager at Northern Credit Union where he led a major re-branding initiative.

Previous to that he worked with the Canadian Medical Association (CMA) as the manager for CMA marketing.

He has also held marketing management positions with the Canadian Tourism Commission and with several high-tech companies based out of Toronto, Ontario.

“Jonathan’s breadth of experience and track-record of proven accomplishment in the high-tech, financial services and public sectors make him an excellent fit for the Innovation Centre and we’re pleased to welcome him to our team,” says Tom Vair, executive director of SSMIC. “With the Innovation Centre poised to enter an exciting new era, Jonathan’s knowledge and abilities will be integral to our continued success.”

“I’m looking forward to contributing to the development of new business opportunities in the science and technology sectors in Sault Ste. Marie,” says Jonathan. “The Innovation Centre is a dynamic organization that is engaged in some remarkable work and I am very excited to be a part of it.”

Jonathan is a member of the Canadian Marketing Association and he holds an honours bachelor of business administration degree from Wilfrid Laurier University.

He will be based out of the SSMIC headquarters located on the campus of Algoma University.

In 2011, SSMIC, its business incubator and its Community Geomatics Centre will all be relocating to the new Bio-Sciences and Technology Convergence Centre that is currently under construction at Algoma University.
