David Jahn, an accountant and veteran healthcare administrator from Manistique who once told the Detroit Free Press he found a calculator as useful as any medical device, was announced today as the new president and chief executive officer of War Memorial Hospital.
Tonight's edition of the Soo Evening News reports that Jahn earned a Masters in Business Administration degree from Lake Superior State University in 1990.
He was CEO and chief financial officer at Manistique's Schoolcraft Memorial Hospital for 22 years, and also chaired the Michigan Health and Hospital Association.
More recently, Jahn has been vice president of marketing at MHA Insurance Co., the number one insurer of Michigan hospitals.
In a 1999 article, the Free Press wrote: "At heart, Jahn is an accountant who keeps an adding machine at his fingertips to calculate every penny he spends."
The newspaper also disclosed that Jahn has an office mug that says "I'd rather be golfing."
