************************* Mantracker stops at college open house and Information Program

SAULT STE. MARIE, ON (October 5, 2009) - Sault College is pleased to host approximately 300 Grade 12 high school students this Thursday, October 8 from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. in the gymnasium, as the Ontario College Information Program comes to Sault Ste. Marie.

This annual event is part of a province-wide college tour program in which several Ontario colleges' staff display and provide information about their schools.

The college and its recruiters will also be showcasing its many programs simultaneously to give local students an idea of what is available right here.

As a special feature to this year’s program, students will have the opportunity to meet Terry Grant from the hit Canadian reality television series Mantracker.

Grant will be providing autographs and speaking to students about the importance of a college education.

“We want the students to get a glimpse of our incredible facilities, have some fun and leave the event with great information. Because natural environment and outdoor studies programs are considered specialty niche programs here at the cllege, Mantracker will fit in quite nicely,” says Shelby McClelland, student recruitment officer, Sault College.

Admission to the event is free and it is open to everyone.

Representatives from Algonquin, Boreal, Cambrian, Canadore, Centennial, Conestoga, Confederation, Georgian, Humber, Lambton, Northern, Seneca, and ontariocolleges.ca have confirmed their attendance.

“Parents are encouraged to also attend the event to meet representatives face to face,” says McClelland.

The gymnasium will also be set up with Sault College information displays covering health sciences, human services, technical trades, natural environment and outdoor studies, business, aviation, computer studies, creative arts, engineering technology, general education, culinary and hospitality, native education and support services.

“The deadline to apply for equal consideration into any college across Ontario is February 1. Students start applying to ontariocolleges.ca by mid-October so we want to make sure these potential students have access to information about the available programs,” says McClelland.

The college will also have information on the launch of 10 new programs for 2010, as well as a complete listing of programs that will begin in January 2010.

The Sault College student recruitment team also participates in the College Information Program by travelling across the province attending similar information sessions for potential students.

For more information about this event, or about Sault College programs contact Shelby McClelland at 759-2554, ext. 2723.
