CONSEIL SCOLAIRE CATHOLIQUE DU NOUVEL ONTARIO

****************************** Dubreuilville’s École St-Joseph celebrates its 35th anniversary

On Monday, December 6, the Dubreuilville community will join students and staff to celebrate École St-Joseph’s 35th anniversary.

The program for this celebration will include the unveiling of the three winners of the 35th anniversary logo competition, a display of photographs of the school, students and staff from 1975 to the present, as well as the tasting of the anniversary cake bearing the school’s logo and mascot.

Everyone is invited to take part in the celebration of the school’s success (located at 149 Avenue du Parc, Dubreuilville).

The celebration will honour this school that officially opened its doors on December 6, 1975.

Built through the efforts of residents who wanted their village to benefit from a modern French Catholic school, École St-Joseph came to play a pivotal role in the life of the Dubreuilville community.

The school’s name honours Joseph, father of the four Dubreuil brothers, owners of Dubreuil Brothers Limited, who donated the wood that was used in the school’s construction.

The steady growth of the school required the addition of four portable classrooms about five years later.

While enrolment at École St-Joseph has in the past exceeded 200 students, the school currently houses some 100 students, from junior kindergarten to Grade 8.

In addition to having access to various sport and cultural activities, students have also access to a computer lab, high-level learning resources and a fine schoolyard.

Managed by a school authority until June 2009, École St-Joseph is now part of the Conseil scolaire catholique du Nouvel-Ontario.

“Dubreuilville residents can be proud of their French Catholic school’s successes and significant contributions. The hundreds of students who received their education here can attest of the school’s staff commitment as well as the incredible support of the community for a quality French language education for students from the village,” stated Mr. Marcel Montpellier, president of the Conseil scolaire catholique du Nouvel Ontario (CSCNO).

“École St-Joseph’s rich history is well-deserving of celebration and we take great pride in promoting its success in Northern Ontario,” added Mrs. Lyse-Anne Papineau, director of education at the CSCNO. “While acknowledging the valuable contribution made by the former school authority who managed the school so very well, we will ensure that its tradition of Francophone excellence continues now that it is part our school board and guides us in our efforts to provide a high level French Catholic education.”

The Conseil scolaire catholique du Nouvel-Ontario offers a French Catholic educational program that is widely recognized for its excellence.

The CSCNO provides a quality learning environment and academic program that runs from early childhood to adult education, with more than 7,300 students in 28 elementary and 10 secondary schools.
