************************* Tony Martin hosts Irish Ambassador to Canada in Sault

Public invited to several events on Friday

SAULT STE. MARIE – Irish Ambassador to Canada Declan Kelly and his wife, Anne, are guests of Sault MP Tony Martin here Thursday to Saturday attending several events including the “Taste of Ireland” ARCH hospice fundraiser Friday night.

The Kellys arrive Thursday, October 25 with the public invited to a number of events on Friday to meet the ambassador:

- Sunrise Ceremony, 8 a.m., front of City Hall, Garden River First Nations elders perform “drum and song” welcome ceremony for ambassador. - Bushplane Museum tour, 8:30 a.m.

- Flagraising Ceremony, Cenotaph, 10:45 a.m., to kick off Poppy Week

- Algoma University luncheon (private, by invitation) hosted by president and chair

- Taste of Ireland dinner, Union Hall, cocktails 6 p.m., dinner 7 p.m.

Saturday, Martin is driving the Kellys to Wawa for a tour, lunch with the mayor and council and a visit to the Lake Superior Provincial Park Interpretation Centre.

The ambassador and Martin are having supper Saturday with Mayor John Roswell, former Canadian Ambassador to Ireland Ron Irwin and their spouses.

A few tickets are left for the “Taste of Ireland” dinner.

They cost $20 and can be bought by calling ARCH at 942-1556.
