When Shirley Gionette woke up at 7:30 a.m. Saturday, her husband Jim was yammering something about her Encore ticket winning a million dollars.

Her enthusiasm didn't match his.

"What do you want?" she demanded of her hubby. "I'm not a morning person," she told him.

But the 61-year-old Sears catalogue employee from Blind River Shirley was all smiles at the big OLG building on Sault Ste. Marie's Foster Drive this afternoon, picking up her million-dollar cheque.

Shirley joked that now that she's a millionaire, she might be able to persuade Jim to toss all his old t-shirts.

And she just might treat him to a new vehicle.

Shirley bought her winning ticket at Mac's Kwik-Way at 225 Causley Street in Blind River.
