NEWS RELEASE

BIG BROTHERS BIG SISTERS

*************************
On Thursday, Sept. 15, 2016, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Sault Ste. Marie held their second annual fundraiser, the “BIG Bail Out.”

This year, Big Brothers Big Sisters requested employees nominate a boss or co-worker to get “locked up” for a two hour time period or until the set monetary bail amount of $1,000 was achieved.

Volunteer prisoners experienced a mock arrest; were put in handcuffs; escorted by a “police officer” into their jail cells; donned jumpsuits; while their co-workers enjoyed the show, cheered the volunteer prisoners on as they attempted to “make bail!”

The “jails” were located at various venues throughout the city, highlighting the participating businesses, The Breakfast Pig (Angela Caputo), Community First Credit Union (Trish Porco and Liisa Wooley), RBC (Shawn Bullock), GFL (John Martella) and Quattro (Joe Ruscio).

The agency would like to extend a huge thank you to all of the participants, donors as well as Construction Equipment Co., who generously provided the “jail cells” for the day.

Fundraisers such as this would not be successful without community support. All monies donated remain local, and provides Big Brothers Big Sisters the opportunity to continue to provide programs and opportunities for the youth of Sault Ste. Marie.

As a not for profit organization serving youth in our community Big Brothers Big Sisters of Sault Ste. Marie is committed to the healthy development of children and youth through valuable mentoring programs vital in fostering their full potential.

The organization’s vision of a community with enriched and happy children where every child who needs a mentor has a mentor, is only possible through fund raising events and the support of community members.

For information on the event, or to find out how you can donate, please email Rebecca Bolton at [email protected] or call the office at 705-945-7717.
