Long standing Ward 1 Councillor, Steve Butland, steps out of the running

STEVE BUTLAND, WARD 1 COUNCILLOR, SAULT STE. MARIE

"It's now an appropriate time to end my career in municipal politics" says Ward One Councillor Steve Butland.

"I'm appreciative of the residents of Ward One for allowing me to serve 23 years; a challenging but gratifying period of time."

"My participation in initiatives such as the Innovation Centre, the flags at City Hall, the Northern Community Centre, the John Rhodes facility expansion, the Essar Centre, Casino, alternative energy projects and various environmental issues are now a part of our local landscape and bring with them a level of great satisfaction."

"The dynamics of the municipal scene have changed dramatically with issues becoming more complex and requiring even more in-depth research"

"As to the future, it is my hope that both Smart City and Smart Grid projects become realities."
